Pitcher Talks

After surviving the 36-week stillbirth of their first son, Taylor and her husband were shocked to learn that their third son, Samuel, suffered from a fatal heart defect and was not expected to survive the pregnancy. As they walked through the pregnancy, delivery, and first few months of Samuel’s life, Taylor wondered how on earth to fill herself up when life continued to empty her out. She believed the words of Jesus in Luke 6:21,

Blessed are you who hunger now,
    for you will be satisfied.
Blessed are you who weep now,
    for you will laugh.

and Yahweh’s promise to the Israelites in Psalm 81:10,

I am the Lord your God,
who brought you up out of Egypt.
Open wide your mouth and I will fill it.

Her continual prayer, “But how, Lord, when I’m so empty?” was slowly answered as she went to therapy and learned to care for herself the way God intended her to. From this journey of filling her own pitcher, the Pitcher Talk was born.

Beginning with Genesis 1:31, the Pitcher Talk emphasizes that we are made “very good” in God’s image. Even the weaknesses and human frailties that leave us feeling “less than” are part of our “very good”-ness. When we trust God that our physical, emotional, relational, and purpose needs are very good (because He made them), we can learn how to honor those needs and fill our pitchers to overflowing.

The Pitcher talk incorporates the story of Hagar in Genesis 21, emphasizing the “God Who Sees Me,” who faithfully provides for our needs amid the wilderness.

Living in a world filled with uncertainty, it is easy to feel plagued by anxiety. How do we, as Christian women, trust in a God who sometimes allows bad things to happen to us and those we love? How do live in peace knowing that just because we are Christians does not mean we are exempt from suffering?

Taylor tells the story of her journey through grief and fear as she walked with God through the valley of a terminal pregnancy. Drawing from Psalm 23 and I Kings 20, Taylor paints the picture of a Good Shepherd we can trust in the good times and the bad.

A great talk for grownups and teens alike, We Go Together focuses on building quality friendships while rooting ourselves first in the never-ending love of our best friend, Jesus.

In We Go Together, Taylor tells relatable stories of friendships lost and won. She focuses on how God (a perfect community) made us, first and foremost, to commune with Him and with each other (Genesis 1: 26). When we draw close to Jesus with all of our friendship needs, we can fill up on a love that never disappoints. Then, we can be the friend we wish we had because we already have the Best Friend.

Drawing from Isaiah 43:1, Ephesians 3:17-20, and the Book of Ruth, the We Go Together Talk will encourage your community to lean into Jesus, fill up on His love, and choose loyalty and steadfastness in their friendships.

We all want to believe that when we find “the one,” we will be complete. But after almost twenty-five years of marriage, Taylor shares her hard-won advice on how to live full in your marriage by rooting in your faith, caring for your own needs. and maintaining strong, Christian friendships with like-minded women.

We all struggle to make peace with ourselves, our bodies, and our own failings. But many times, we forget to look to the Bible and Jesus Himself to define our worth. The culmination of the Pitcher Series, this talk helps grownups and teens alike define their worth based on the truth of God’s word and begin to discern their unique talents and purpose.

In Pour, Taylor pulls the entire Pitcher together to show you how to embrace your God-given talents to serve.
